Frequently asked questions
While no breeder can guarantee the exact size of a puppy once it's fully grown, we can make an educated guess. Generally, a puppy's adult size will fall between the sizes of its parents, with most puppies leaning towards the larger parent. Males tend to be on the larger side, while females are usually smaller. If you have a specific puppy in mind, consider the weights of the dam and sire to estimate your puppy's adult size.
All shedding dogs mixed with any type of poodle have a risk of shedding. Because each parent passes down one genotype to their offspring they will always carry a genotype from the shedding dog. However that degree of shedding can vary. The amount a dog sheds in due to three different coat traits that work in conjunction with each other. Those are “Shedding”, “Furnishings” and “Curl”. In order for a dog to guarantee not shed, they need to carry no copies of Shedding, two copies of Furnishings and two copies of Curl. The two genotypes that work together from each parent, and in those genotypes there is always one that trumps the other. For “Shedding”, the Shedding trumps over the missing genotype. However for “Furnishing” and “Curl”, those genotypes trump over the missing genotype, which means that dog will have curl to their coat as well as furnishings.
Litter pan training is starting our pups off on the right track for house training. From 3 weeks old they are trained first on pee pads, then transitioning to pee pads with a mixture of Alfalfa hay and Timothy Hay (backyard grass). Dogs have a keen sense of smell and this hay helps simulate the scent of backyard grass. They are praised for their efforts in using this scent as their bathroom and should be 70% successful by the time they go to their new homes.
To give each of our adult dogs the proper care that they deserve, we have placed some of our dogs in guardian homes. These homes are the dogs forever homes. They care for them and love them in the dogs down time when the dog is not breeding or caring for a litter. Once the dog retired from our breeding program, they remain with their guardian for the rest of their lives. We love that all our dogs get the attention they need and are in their permanent home from the moment they are ready.
A Guardian Home program for dogs is an arrangement where a breeder places one of their breeding dogs with a selected family or individual. The dog lives with the Guardian Home as a pet but returns to the breeder for breeding purposes. This program benefits both the breeder and the dog, as it provides a loving home while supporting responsible breeding practices.
